Andrew Skinner-Ryan

 
 

With a background in business administration and legal studies, Andrew Skinner-Ryan has a diverse practice at Sheldon Nathanson Law, where he has been a team member since 2019. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (Double Concentration in Legal Studies & Human Resources) from Cape Breton University and received his Juris Doctor from the University of New Brunswick. He was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2020.

Andrew’s practice focuses on corporate and commercial law, residential and commercial property, wills and estates, civil litigation, and administrative law. He has handled matters before various courts, including the Small Claims Court of Nova Scotia, the Provincial Court of Nova Scotia, the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, and the Federal Court. He takes a personalized approach to each matter, working closely with clients to understand their unique needs and goals. Andrew stays informed on the latest developments in his practice areas and strives to provide the best possible service to his clients. Additionally, he serves as a Per Diem Crown Attorney for the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service.

He is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, the Cape Breton Barristers' Society, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Real Estate Lawyers Association of Nova Scotia (RELANS). Andrew also serves on the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society’s Professional Standards (Law Office Management) Committee and chairs its Technology Subgroup.

Outside of his legal practice, Andrew has a passion for travel and exploring new places. He is both a Director and Vice-Chair for the Adult Learning Association of Cape Breton County (ALACBC), a non-profit offering tuition-free literacy and GED preparation for adults in CBRM for over 30 years. Additionally, he is a Director at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design, a non-profit dedicated to the educational, promotional, and economic advancement of the craft sector on Cape Breton Island.
